Like they say, September the 11th changed everything.
For over 50 years, most Americans have sat back and let a few brave souls do our fighting for us, defending our freedom. Indeed, we were told to leave such things to professionals. Now that the front lines have come to our shores, we realize that we can no longer sit back passively, hoping that danger will pass us by and somebody else will deal with it. If we see a threat, we must be prepared to act, even unto death, to help thwart a terrorist plot -- to risk our own lives to save many.
Christians should awaken to a similar realization. We are so wrapped up in our own concerns, mostly petty things that don't really matter. Our energies go toward trying to be happy, to enjoy ourselves and have an easy life. Even more, we worry about being safe and healthy.
We must fully recognize that we are in a spiritual war, as well, one that bears eternal consequences. There are those who declare that this war is over, that Jesus has won. But open your eyes, the world is going to hell, along with many of your friends, most of your neighbors, and some of your loved ones. So what are you going to do about it? Are you going to sit back and hope somebody else will do something?
