The following tells a story from early in our nation's history, one that is literally shrouded in mystery.
Joseph Moody was the pastor's son in York, Maine, a graduate of Harvard. In 1732, he became pastor of a second congregation. He performed his duties well until about the time his wife died. Afterward, without explanation, Moody would never appear in public without a black cloth covering his face.
