Hey, Hey! We're the Monkeys!

Mrs. Berthiaume's 1999 Kindergarten Class is now officially called
"The Monkeys!"
We brainstormed and voted on ideas for a class name.
Since we have read some of the "Five Little Monkeys" books by Eileen Christelow, the name seems appropriate!

Reggie and Eric, 2 firefighters from the Swanton Fire Department, came to teach us about Fire Safety.
They told us how important it is to have fire drills and to check our smoke detectors at home.
We got to sit in the fire truck!

We have been learning about Winnie the Pooh!  We celebrated Pooh's birthday with Mrs. Harvey's kindgarten class.  Mrs. Barnes made a yummy Pooh cake!  Winnie the Pooh was originally written and illustrated by A.A. Milne and Ernest Shepard.  Mr. Milne got his idea for Pooh from his son, Christopher Robin, who had a stuffed bear named Edward.  Christopher Robin often visited the zoo in Winnipeg, Canada and played with a tame bear cub named Winnie (after Winnipeg.)  He renamed his own bear, Winnie the Pooh!  We watched a video of how the Disney Pooh stories were made.  We saw the man who does the voice of Tigger!
We made a graph comparing the Classic characters and the Disney characters.  More people like the Disney characters!
