Major General Patrick Ronayne Cleburne

Patrick Ronayne Cleburne was born on March 16, 1828 in Cork County, Ireland. After his father's death he joined the British army serving as a Corporal until buying his way out of the army on September 22,1849 to go to America. He settled in Helena, Arkansas and becamea partner of a drug store and then a lawyer. Despite the sterio-typical definition of Irish Americans Cleburne rose and became a respected community member.
