| The Richard Jury books are a mystery
series set in England.
Jury is a Scotland Yard detective who often uses the talents of his best friend Melrose Plant in solving crimes. Aside from the typical mystery plot, these stories have spawned a whole crew of side characters that have a running storyline that progresses from book to book. While readers find the plot of the mystery engrossing, they also check in to see how the lives of the villagers in Long Piddleton and the residents of the Islington neighborhood are doing. haven't read Martha Grimes' Mystery novels. If you have heard of it, then you'll please forgive my flight of fantasy here in setting to paper, or monitor, my musings on how the characters might look. |
Richard Jury, handsome, strong,
and resourceful and ever unlucky in love.
Melrose Plant, ex-earl and amateur sleuth,who often scouts out suspects and gathers information for Jury under many guises. Vivian Rivington, lovely, wealthy and inable to choose between Melrose, Richard and her Italian Count. Aunt Agatha , conniving to make herself the center of attention in Long Piddleton and ever trying to wrest Melrose's inheritance from him. Marshall Trueblood, colorful antique dealer and along with Melrose the bane of Vivian's life. Mrs. Wasserman, the lonley landlady and Carole Anne-Palutsky, the vivacious young fortune teller are Richard's London neighbors who keep an eye on the detective. |
