Notes: *The 1881 census has a Thomas Swinburn, aged 26 (born about 1855 Bassenthwaite, Cumberland) living as a domestic servant in the household of Aberham Dowthwaite at Chestnut Hill, Keswick. Although his date of birth does not match any of the Thomas Swinburn's known on this branch so far, he must have been a relative as both Thomas Swinburn, b.c. 1807 and then his niece Mary were living in the same property shortly afterwards. He may be the Thomas on the 1901 census at Keswick aged 46 (b. Crosthwaite) 'living on own means'

A JOHN THOMAS SWINBURN, (possibly the son of George Swinburn and Jane Edmonson Greenhow), born (?reg. Q4) 1876 Newcastle; they are on the 1901 census at Shotley Low Quarter, John a Game Keeper aged 47 and Hannah aged 62 with daughters MARY HANNAH SWINBURN, born (reg. Q4 Hexham) 1880 Shotley, on 1881 census with parents, and in 1901 when she was a dressmaker aged 20, married 10 September 1902 St. John's, Shotley ROGER THOMAS DAVEY; and CATHERINE SWINBURN, born c.1883 Shotley (poss. reg. (1) The Aynsley Family, connected to the Lanchester Swinburn's (see George Swinburn of Lanchester, Durham), have a hand written family tree of John Swinburn of Gowbarrow Hall in their possession written by a person who refers to John as 'our father'. Their ancestor John Swinburn Aynsley was a Grocer at Penrith so Annie, Banks and Ada (the children of John Swinburn of Gowbarrow Hall), living in Penrith in 1901 may have known him and one of them could have been the author of the tree

    (2) At the 1851 census Hugh Edmondson was Innkeeper at Howtown)
