Fractals!

These are images that are naturally occuring, when one looks at a bigger and bigger view of the picture, you can find more and more intricate (often self-repeating detail) for example clouds and coastline.

But you can generate some of the most beautiful pictures using square and cubic equations, first explored by mathematicians Mandelbrot and Julia.

The first 3 images are from variations of zooms on the Mandelbrot set, and the last is from a variation of the Julia set.
