Reed College has been stuck in my brain for nearly two years now, and I finally had the opportunity to visit Portland over my long winter break from OU. While I stayed only one night, I was able to form a series of impressions about the place and was shocked to find that it is, more or less, as the admissions office advertises it: highly intellectual, more liberal than the green party, and yet with a very conservative, traditional (and hard) curriculum, as well as an absolute expectation that students will make their educations their own responsibilities.
This trip also allowed me to play with my recently-acquired digital camera. For those who care, it's a Sony Cybershot 2.12 MP, DSC-P50. It's very good unless you want to shoot crystal-clear, long-range shots. I don't like the digital zoom, but whatever. On the next few pages I have some thoughts interspersed with photos...I just got home a few hours ago so this is my fresh reflection on an interesting trip...have fun...
