We are setting up a CLAGUE Surname Web Center for those of us with the Manx surname CLAGUE in our lineage. We will no doubt find great numbers of Cubbon's, Water's, Watterson's, and more as we explore our roots.

The purpose of this page is to provide us with places to look up long lost CLAGUE relatives, both the living and those from times past. We seek to create a database for genealogists to share. After years of misspellings who does not enjoy seeing the CLAGUE Surname Online?

As common as Smith is the surname CLAGUE on fair Ellan Vannin, The Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. Mannin is known as Lord of the Seas in Celtic Tales. From this comes the name of one of the original six Celtic nations Isle of Man. The island has its own native language Manx Gaelic which was kept in part from extinction by our own Dr. John Clague. Although CLAGUE is known in Mann, in the USA, Canada or Australia, our shared surname makes us distinctive one to another.

With this surname another with a surname such as Kneene, might introduce themselves saying "You're Manx too aren't you?" CLAGUE is the oldest known Manx surname.

Most of us probably left the island itself when the land became difficult to find for farming, mining or other interests economical. But the Isle never leaves you. Many of us seek to find our CLAGUE relatives who now live in all corners of the world.We call each other cousins for although perhaps not related, so unusual is this surname that we instinctually know we have an entire heritage in common!
