John Kalb Sr attended Trappe's Lutheran Church and School where he was also married at to Elizabeth Muller. In 1788 John moved his family from Pennsylvania to Emmits Town, (Emmitsburg) Maryland.
After his wife's death in 1800 he lived with his son George in Tanytown, MD. In the spring of 1805 he moved with George and his family to the Ohio wilderness.
John entered into 160 acres of forrest land, and the History of Franklin Co., Ohio relates the rest of their story. John died there in Madison Township at the age of 82.
