Dedicated to all those recovering from a "broken heart." My intent is not that of the "broken heart" itself, but how we live afterwards. It's a painful time, yet we must "start a new." I believe it begins in our own backyard. First, "replant" your heart in an entirely new garden - letting the past go and not looking back. Secondly, expect the thunderstorms - loneliness will follow as you deal with your new beginning. Thirdly, praise the rain - reintroduce yourself to the world, meet new friends and run for the things you love. Lastly, allow the clouds to break - as you emerge, the sunshine will fill your days and you'll blossom again into one of God's greatest creations, "Me."

Thanks for visiting the basement of a Lighthouse!

The Lighthouse

She had washed ashore, soaked in pain
From that of a man, close in mind
Teardrops fell, as did the rain
A love abused, a love left behind.

He abused her, no mercy given of few
She held on, thoughts o' a start,
For him, only more pain was due,
So she left him with a broken heart.

Weak and battered, she began to crawl
When a light, cut into the sky
The beam's announcement sent to all
A choice to continue or die.

As she moved closer, it came into sight
A lighthouse, alone, signaling the heavens
It pushed her forward, that left of might
Her strength gave out seven by seven.

As she lay, a voice touched her ears
"Rise, thy shall start a new."
She looked around, eyes still unclear
Nothing, but a lighthouse in view.

She made it to the lighthouse, a door stares
How was it possible, against all odds?
Suddenly the lighthouse was covered by glare,
Then she looked up and saw the hand of God.
