Q :  What does AREK-KAJ stand for ?

Q :  Is AREK an organization ?If yes, what organization is it ?		
A :  Yes, AREK is an organization. It is a categorial group in the 
     region of Jakarta archdiocese which joins together with other           
     categorial organizations in PEMIKAT (Pertemuan Mitra Kate-        
     gorial).    					

Q :  How did AREK-KAJ at first come into being ?
A :  At the beginning, some Catholic white-collar workers at
     Landmark,  Sudirman St, jakarta, saw that in their offices and
     the surroundings there were no activities with the character
     of spiritual care for them. Then they took the initiative to        
     gather their colleagues to have the Holy Mass on the first friday  
     (of the Month) during the noon break.                                 

     As the time went on, so the Holy Mass on every first Friday      
     interested more and more people. Observing such a big potential    
     besides being highly motivated on account of he awareness of       
     the limited after-work time to participate actively in the terri-
     tory church, they were encouraged to consolidate themselves in
     such a more serious coordinating institution that they could do
     something not only for themselves but also for the society at 
     large.

     Eventually, headed by going into retreat in Civita and in St. Ca-
     rolus Hospital, they agreed to unite in the umbrella organization
     whose name is AREK-KAJ.


Q :  When was AREK-KAJ officially founded ?
A :  October 29, 1993.


Q :  What is the vision of AREK-KAJ as an organization?           
A :  AREK-KAJ is a Catholic professional community that will develop
     its member's professionalism talent, which, in turn, they con-
     tribute to the society at large.


Q :  As a further spelling out of the vision, what is then the mission
     of AREK-KAJ ?                             
A :  The mission, which serves as the basis of the direction of the     
     activities, consists of :                                  
     1. giving spiritual service to the executives and white collar workers
     2. giving professional service to the society
     3. providing facilitation for other group's activities.


Q :  What is the working program of AREK ?
A :  Please, see in what we have done, and what we will
      do.


Q :  As a categorial group in the archdiocese of Jakarta, does AREK      
     have special characteristics ?
A :  AREK, thus far, has been performing a routine activity in the form
     of reflection every Wednesday afternoon. The results of this
     activity can be checked in AREK's documents.
                         

Q :  Who is the moderator of AREK-KAJ ?
A :  The moderator is B.S Mardiatmadja SJ. and he is assisted by 
      Swasono SJ, Frans Sisu Odjan, and Djokopranot. They are a team.


Q :  Who is the patron-saint of AREK ?
A :  St. John Evangelist.
