Because it's FUN to watch big men balance on small pieces of metal *g*

So anyways.  These are the Detroit Red Wings (well, some of them). They're a hockey team.  They won the Stanley Cup (which is the NHL championship thing) in 1997 and 1998.  They also did very slashy things.  You can find out more about the Red Wings at Their Official Site and The Hockey-Dreams mailing list

Cast of Characters

Kris Draper.  Not only is he best friends with Ozzie, he's also best friends with Darren McCarty.  More on that one below.  He, McCarty, and Maltby are often referred to as the "Grind Line".

Darren McCarty.  Best friends with Kris Draper.  This is best illustrated with a story.  You see, in 1996, a player named Claude Lemieux checked Draper into the boards at a time when a check really wasn't necessary.  Draper smashed into the boards so hard he lost his helmet, had to have surgery, and ate out of a straw for months.  Did Claude apologize?  No.  Did he claim that his check "made Draper a household name" and basically credit himself with Draper's career  Uh-huh.  So, the next time the Wings met Claude's team, McCarty wiped the ice with Lemieux, starting not only a brawl which fans still talk about today, but starting a feud that still lasts.

Kirk Maltby.  Does pizza commercials with McCarty and is friends with both Draper and McCarty.

Chris "Ozzie" Osgood, the Red Wings number 1 goalie from 1998-2001.  Recently traded for Dominic Hasek (but we won't get into that.)  Best friends with Kris Draper and they used to live together before both got married.
