7-2-05 ROCK OF AGES THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION TOUR

Clipper Magazine Stadium Lancaster PA

*** General admission
Bob and I were off to the venue without tickets. Headed through back streets to
avoid 2 block length line of ticket holders. When we merged with the crowd, a young
lady told us "the line starts back there" a block away. I said, "We don't
have tickets--do you have extra tickets?" She said no, somebody else may have
tickets. I answered, "We'll just go to box office to buy our tickets!"
So I purchased 2 and we went in two hours ahead of show time. It was hot! We stood
on field in shaded area. Soon, a crowd gathered in our spot to avoid sunlight in
their face. 8:30 the show began with 'Action!' (For full set list, refer to defleppard.com--
you know the site!) Though the songs were from the current "Best of" release, that
meant nothing was played from "X". This was a somewhat rowdy crowd and quite a few
drunks were thrown out. We hung out far enough from the stage that we didn't have to
battle for a view. There were a couple guys staggerin' around yet nobody really
botherin' us. I did catch a big guy behind me dancin' sort of close to my back side
and told Bob about that. He took up the rear position instead! At one point, Bob and
I seemed to be directly aligned with Sav and Joe. I felt a rush of energy burst!
It seemed similar but of course not exactly like a dream I had where a triangle
of light emitted from Joe, Sav and I. It's hard to get a sense of excitement from
a distance of 150 feet but the intensity was strong from my point of view! Seemingly,
the band--having met me on many occasions--each one glancing and/or acknowledging our
presence--made for a wonderfully magnificent/magnetic performance! The show ended
too soon (as always) so we stood on sidewalk by buses afterward for autographs. Both
Phil and Sav came out to greet a crowd of 30-50 people individually. Phil signed
my ROA booklet, Bob's T-shirt and shook his hand. I commented, "Now Bob has a T-shirt
to match his bandana!" Phil looked at him as if he was thinkin', "Dude, why didn't
you bring it?" Then Sav signed my booklet, shook Bob's hand but didn't sign T-shirt
due to a young lady buttin' in front of him. Sav said, "That's it!" (He doesn't
like to feel crowded.) We left and then I found out afterward Rick A. came out as
well! I give this show 3 stars--***--perfect performance, 2 autographs! I missed
them all so much within 3 miles vicinity of the venue... yet the intensity of feelings
will endure... 'till the next tour!
