the Bold & Beautiful
This page is dedicated to the Klingon Women as represented in Star Trek movies and TV series. As best as I can I've pointed out their roles, important contributions to the understanding of Klingon Society, history and yes....even their unique sense of fashion.

First Female Qang (Chancellor of the High Council) | Azetbur gained the leadership of the High Council after her father Gorkon was assassinated in 2293. She carried on Gorkon's work with the United Federation of Planets which culminated in what is now called the Khitomer Peace Accords. | Apparently during the times before the second coming of qeylIS there was a very distinct trend of opulence among the Upper Classes of the Klingon Empire. Azetbur wore heavy jewelry, head pieces, necklaces and bracelets. The colors of the time were basic black and red. Her dress was usually a long flowing gown. |

Proves that Klingon and Romulan genetics are compatible. | Ba'el is the prodigy of a Klingon woman named Gi'ral and a Romulan officer named Tokath. Raised in a Romulan Prison camp in the Carraya System. She fell in love with Worf in 2369 when he made a brief 'visit' to the Prison Camp. (The same year the clone of qeylIS was installed as Emperor). She chose to stay behind with her parents because her half-breed genetics would cause her problems among other Full blooded Klingons. | Ba'el wears a combination of Klingon and Romulan Civilian design. The typical long dress with belt and collar can be seen in her style. Note, she does not have the Klingon shoulder piece. In this case the naturalistic tones and plain style of Ba'el may be more influenced by Romulan textiles than by what is happening among the Klingons at the Homeworld. |

The complexity of her character, being half human half klingon has contributed much to our understanding of the differences between Klingon instinct/emotion and those of humans. Her constant struggle with the more intense Klingon side is a theme we can count on in the series. Through her search for balance I expect tidbits into the Klingon psyche will continue to be revealed. | B'Elanna was raised with humans as the only klingon. Her father left when she was young. When old enough B'Elanna joined the Maquis and was quickly promoted to Chief Engineer under her captain, Capt. Chakotay. After the incident with the Caretaker and the Maquis ship being destroyed, she and the remaining Maquis were forced to join the crew of Voyager. Eventually she was given the Chief Engineer position on the USS Voyager. Currently lost in space. | Since B'Elanna works for starfleet she wears the usual StarFleet uniform. Occasionally she can be seen relaxing in a casual wrap around cotton jacket however one thing is for certain, she does not wear Traditional Klingon clothing as she does not feel she is Klingon. (Not yet anyway). |

B'Etor was the prime example of what a Klingon with no Honor would be like. In short, B'Etor gave the Klingon Empire much grief, aggression, and toughness. | B'Etor was the youngest of the DuraS sisters. B'Etor plotted with her sister Lursa after the death of their brother DuraS to place DuraS's illegitimate son on the High Council as leader of the High Council. This action plunged the Klingon Empire into civil war. Nothing was heard for two years until B'Etor and her sister appeared on the space station DS9 selling bilitium explosives to the Kohn-ma in an attempt to raise capital for their armies. B'Etor died when the Enterprise D open fired, destroying the DuraS sister's vessel. | B'Etor is the one Klingon woman that brings Klingon fashion to new heights. Her costumes add the dangerous vamp look to the Klingons. This particular style seems to appear on high ranking women in the military. This outfit then should be classified as a warrior's dress. The traditional shoulder piece and collar with a long skirt and a revealing corset with what can only be described as breast armor. Long sleeves and the traditional gauntlets finish off this look. |

Grilka gave us a first class look into Klingon House politics. Grilka also gave us the Klingon Divorce. A public slap in the face, spit, a curse and a quick exit with no looking back. | Grilka showed up ad DS9 and forced Quark to marry her after he 'claimed' to have killed her husband in combat. Her house was under threat by an unscrupulous Klingon and only a male Leader for the House could save it. After Quark uncovered the financial fraud of D'ghor in front of Chancellor Gowron she was allowed to lead the House herself. She swiftly divorced Quark. Occasionally she's been seen at DS9 breaking a few hearts in the process. | Grilka shows a very earthy but elegant style. She does not tend to wear the battle dress or shoulder piece. The traditional style seems to have come back into place at Qo'noS and her style is mostly of textured cloth accented by delicate gold jewelry. Grilka does keep a dagger on her belt. What Klingon wouldn't? |

Lursa gave us a image of a female House leader. Though her lust for power and control in the Empire may have led her down misguided paths she still shows that Klingon women are capable of commanding a fleet and leading a House by right of inheritable succession. In addition, the rights of the eldest sibling are demonstrated through her relationship to B'Etor. | Lursa was a member of the powerful House of DuraS. The eldest of DuraS's two sisters. After the death of DuraS in 2367, Lursa led her sister in a conspiracy with the Romulans to overthrow Gowron's leadership of the High Council. She brought in the young illegitimate son of DuraS, Toral, to claim his place as Qang. Lursa as a woman could not take this seat so she attempted to claim that Toral had a right by inheritance to challenge the seat of power. This claim caused the council to split and a Civil War broke out. The war ended when it was discovered that Lursa had been conspiring with the Romulan Star Empire. Lursa and her sister dropped out of sight for 2 years trying to regain capital for their armies. They were spotted on DS9 selling bilitium explosives to the Kohn-ma in 2369. She died on her b'rel class ship after the USS Enterprise-D open fired. | Lursa's battle dress has a combination of the vest style on top, shoulder pads and the triangular collar piece. Her skirts usually were strips of cloth creating the illusion of floor length dress. It appears that the dress was one piece and latched together at the lower chest level. Under the skirt she wore leggings. On her wrists the gauntlets of a warrior. |

Valkris was an example of the Klingon woman's dedication to the Empire. Her example demonstrated the depth of Honor and dedication of the best of the Empire's warriors. | Valkris was the operative that obtained the data on the Federations top secret Genisis Project. She provided Commander Kruge with the data and willingly died by his orders. Her death was a most Honorable death. Nothing more is known about her because her files have been sealed as Classified. | Valkris lived and died during the opulent period of Klingon Fashion. From her elegent gown and heavy jewelry she may have been of High Rank and a member of the Upper Class in the Empire. As an operative she may have been influenced by other cultures however her outfits seem quite similar to others of that time period in the Klingon Empire. The dress seems to be a forerunner of the traditional battle dress worn by Lursa. A tight thick belt around her waist decorated by a large metallic ornament. She does not wear the classic shoulder piece and her collar is more of a choker style. Over her outfit she wears a long sleeved robe that remains open in front. |

Vixis gave us a another look at the Klingon woman's contributions to the Klingon Military forces. She holds a top notch position on her ship. Classic female Military officer. | Vixis served as first officer on the b'rel commanded by Capt. Klaa. This was the ship whose mission it was to secure the release of General Koord at Nimbus III. Capt. Klaa's ship was the one that challenged Capt. Kirk in an attempt to gain glory for Klaa. Vixis and Capt. Klaa ended up as Federation allies. Scotty and Chekov found Vixis fascinating during a celebration dinner but wisely kept their distance. | Vixis wears a very classic Military uniform. It is modified from the male Military uniform. A vest with modified shoulder piece sewn in. Pants that match the vest in the typical grays and blacks of the Military. Thick leather belt with a standard issue belt buckle, gauntlets and finger-less gloves. Vixis wears her hair pulled back tightly. This hairstyle is probably more for practical reasons than aesthetic reasons. |
