Combustion: The chemical change that occurs rapidly and produces heat and light; a burning.

...well according to my sad little pocket dictionary this is what 'combustion' means. Just in case you weren't sure (although it is inconceivable to this little pyro just how somebody wouldn't know...)

My List Of Common Combustibles

Well, here's my list-some of these 'items' are common knowledge, while some I discovered on my own, and still others are the products of other people's warped findings!

  • Miniwheats-yes this tasty, nutritious cereal will burn. You don't believe me? *shock and horror* Just read the ingredient list...see glycerin on there? Yeah? Told you so! All it takes is an oxidizing agent of some kind, a spark, and voila-burning cereal!

  • Cookie Sheets-believe or not, these do catch fire quite rapidly. Never, NEVER, put a warped cookie sheet on the top rack of the oven near the top element where it will bend, and touch the element, and consequently catch fire. Trust me, it's not a pretty sight!

  • Jeff's dog Greasy-ah, poor Greasy!!! (see Guestbook)

  • Humans-now, now, I guess it can't be proven (at least not sufficiently enough for some people) but there have been accounts of it...Check it out

  • Sugar-Sugar won't burn by itself, but if you add some ash (eg.from a fireplace) it will burn creating a bright blue flame.

  • The 'hair' on any toy-You know, that plastic stuff that gets severely tangled if you look at it wrong. Yeah? Well, trust me, it will burn! And quite rapidly as well. It actually catches fire, and then burns down into one big plastic clump.
    "Do you like the new hairdo I gave to my Streetcorner Barbie?"
    "Wow, that's neat! And the bow you hot-glued to it matches her 5" pumps perfectly!"
    "Yeah, it's too bad that Pimp Ken doesn't have real hair like Barbie does..."

  • Barbie's Face-It doesn't take long to melt a hole in her head. Watching her makeup bubble and melt is good fun!

  • The notes from a recently completed course-I find that chemistry notes burn well, since they have probably had stuff dripped on them in labs (alcohol, for example).

  • Rubber Bands-They burn very slowly, but they do burn. Break one, straighten it out, ignite one end, and just watch it burn. A guaranteed way to fry your retinas.

  • Pencils-These can burn slowly or fairly rapidly depending on the type. A plain, wood pencil will go at a slow rate, whereas a painted pencil will burn very quickly (do this in a well ventilated area kiddies! That paint can do strange things to your mind).

  • Pop-Tarts-No really...just put them in the toaster, put it on it's highest setting, sit back, and enjoy the light show! *Caution-may require an open window, fire-extinguisher, ear plugs [those nasty smoke detectors], and a new toaster* I discovered this one truly by accident...my parents were none too impressed.

    *Obligatory Warning* Do not try any of this at home kiddies...It could prove potentially 'dangerous'!
