976-EVIL | ||||
Okay. Let me start off by saying that I am an avid fan of movies made in the 60s and 70s. They were the best. Simple story lines, talented home made special effects (not like this computer animation we get today and I mean that), and true imagination. Now let me say how much these movies made in the 60’s and 70’s (and even the 80’s) really were sooo bad that they were awesome. Well, no, that is a lie. Some are actually very good. Like 976-EVIL 976-EVIL, a great B-Movie that has a very nice story line though some cheesy one-liners make you want to laugh more than be afraid. Wait, this movie is supposed to scare me? No, not really, back in the day it may have, or to a 5 year old it might, but not you. Not the avid reader of this article. The storyline is very simple. Mr. Hard-Ass biker dude lives with a religious zealot aunt (not surprised) and her nerd of a son. Well, whenever things get a bit out of control, Hard-Ass decides to call up a strange phone number. What is it? Look at the title of the movie dummy! Anyways, so every time he calls this place, this sadistic voice tells him that something will happen, usually in his favor. Alright, cool. After a while, he decides to stop calling this place and almost gets killed. O.O Those damned telemarketers are persistent buggers. Sorry, side tracked. Good ol’ nerdy boy finds the telephone number and begins making calls to it. Everything begins to work out fine until it tells him how to harness some evil power from hell and use it to get a girl in bed. Well, he does and it works but now guess what. He’s evil! He goes around killing those who mocked him while slowly digressing into a demon of hell, yaddy yaddy. He even creates (no surprise here) a portal into hell and wants to take his hot teacher in with him but Hard-Ass and Mr. Reporter suddenly show up and save the day. Yes, 976-EVIL is a classic B-movie in every sense. You must go out to see it. The actual movie is very good and there are some scenes that will make you cringe. (like the spider part..I HATED that). Go on, it’s out on DVD for like 20$. Buy it. I order you too. 976-EVIL gets a 5/5 on the B-movie scale |
