The year
is 2380.
The turmoil of the past number of years, marked by the Dominion War, a brief, but poignant
conflict with the Klingon Empire and various Borg encounters, have been relegated to
recent memory. However, one only has to visit one of the Federation worlds occupied
during the war to see that the effects of those years of strife are still very much
prevalent and will remain so for years to come.
While the guns may have fallen silent, the Galaxy has not become any safer a place
to live.
From the shadows of the great powers of the alpha quadrant, in places few have
even heard of and even fewer have been, there come whispers and rumours of movement
and activity where once there had been none.
Long silent races, have begun to move out from the shadows to the light of a new
galactic order. Gone are the days when the great powers of the Federation, Klingon
and Romulan Empires had indisputable control over their territory.
Recent events within the Romulan Government illustrated this in such a way that few
could misinterpret as being anything but a foreshadowing of what was to come.
If a race which from all appearances was under the firm control of the Empire could
come so close to the ultimate prize, then so too could others.
They were the first. They will not be the last...
