(Still addicted to the running cat...I know, it's on almost every page...)

I have spent the better part of my life crocheting; it is a wonderful art! I am a "yarnie," and admit up front that I avoid thread like the plague. This page focuses on fantasy crochet. I have designed some free fantasy crochet patterns. Please don't post them elsewhere on the web without asking me, or use them for commercial purposes.

Rianoel's Granny Square

To see details, click on thumbnail.

Notes: When crocheting, the sides of the granny square are worked unevenly, but they look the same when the square is finished. An easy way to increase square size: add a 7th row of hdc's. (That's what I used on the pillowghan.)

Hook: Size of your choice. I used a G hook for the square shown, and a K hook for the pillowghan I made from these squares. In my opinion, the G hook works up a prettier square, but the K hook is fast.
Gauge: G hook = 4.5 inch square, K hook = 5.25 inch square.
Other: worsted-weight 4-ply, color of choice, and sissors

Rock Bunny

To veiw detail, click on thumbnail.

My inspiration for the Rock Bunny design: visit the Lair.
Hook: H hook Gauge: There isn't one; for a bigger or smaller bunny, change hook size. My rock bunny is 3 inches tall, and just over 4 inches as measured from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Other: 4-ply worsted, the color of your choice, about 1.5 to 2 ounces. 2 pompoms, one larger for the tail and a smaller one for the nose. 2 eyes. I made mine by folding up ribbon, but you could sew on buttons or glue on googly eyes or tie on a bit of yarn. Stuffing. I used poly-fill, but you could use beans if you wanted a heavier rock bunny.

Body:
Beg Rnd: ch 4, sl st in 1st ch to form ring
Rnd 1: ch 2, 9 hdc in ring, sl st to top of ch 2
Rnd 2: ch 2, *2 hdc in hdc, 1 hdc in next hdc*, rep * to * around, sl st in top of ch 2.
Rnd 3: ch 2, 1 hdc in hdc, *2 hdc in next hdc, 1 hdc in next 2 sts*, rep * to * around, sl st in top of ch 2
Rnd 4: rep Rnd 3
Rnd 5: ch 2, hdc in every st around, sl st in top of ch 2
Rnd 6: rep Rnd 5
Rnd 7: ch 2, dec [yo, pull up loop in hdc, pull up loop in next hdc, yo and draw thru all 4 loops on hook], hdc in next 2 sts, dec, hdc in next 13 sts, dec, hdc in next 2 sts, dec in last 2 sts, sl st in top of ch 2
Rnd 8: ch 2, dec, hdc in next st, dec, hdc in 11 sts, dec, hdc in next st, dec, sl st in top of ch 2
Stuff Body
Rnd 9: ch 2, dec in every st around, sl st to top of ch 2
Rnd 10: ch 1, pressing sides together, sl st thru the last 2 dec sts.
Finish off and weave end thru around seam. The seam runs thru the bottom of the rock bunny; the bottom is slightly flatter than the top, especially around the tail area.
Tail and Nose:
Sew smaller pompom(the nose) over the hole made by Beg Rnd, and the larger pompom(the tail) over Rnd 10.
Eyes:
Sew eyes onto chosen spot on Rnd 3.
Ears:[make 2
Attach yarn in Rnd 5 above eye. Ch 17. Tc in 5th ch from hook, tc in next 6 chs, dc in next 4 chs, hdc in last 2 chs. sl st in same spot where yarn was attached. This causes ears to roll slightly, giving the floppy effect.

Check back soon; I put up patterns as I finish them, and pictures when I can borrow a digital camera (or a scanner!)
