Two New Kittens

For Mother's Day I decided that I wanted a Siamese kitten.  The four cats we had were grown up  and very independent.   Both my daughters are also "grown up and independent" even if not on a level with the cats and I guess I needs someone to baby.

Around here I have to do the looking and then point things out to my husband.  He is good about getting things but needs specific instructions or he just doesn't connect ideas with actions.    I started looking in the Chattanooga Times News/Free Press for a breeder with kittens for sale.   It took a while because it seems there aren't a lot of Cat Breeders around here or maybe not one who advertise in the newspaper.   Eventually one appeared and I called.   The lady was nice on the phone, stating that the kittens would be ready on Sunday, May 15th, but that she only had males left.   She stated that there had only been 3 little females and they were already sold.   The kittens weren't registered and the price was $40 dollars each.   The Breeder told  me she lived across the street from Wilder Tower on the Chickamauga National Battlefield in Chickamauga, Georgia.

I ask her to save me two.  I decided that I didn't want the kitten to be lonesome and that he really would need someone his own size to play with.   I have found from past experiences that it is really easier to raise two kittens together than it is to raise one alone.   Moreover, since there were 4 adult cats in the house it didn't seem fair to have an only child.

Sunday, May 15th, rolled around quickly and we set out on our trek to Georgia to bring Tenchi and KoKo home.   (Yes, they were already named.   KoKo after the feline sleuth in the Lillian Jackson Braum novels and Tenchi after Tenchi Muyo in the Animes.   Two little boys with good strong male names.)

We had no finding the house but were very surprised when the breeder showed us three three mother cats in cages in what obviously had been a dog kennel.   She stated the cats had belonged to her mother and this was her first and probably last batch of kittens.   She stated all the kittens were sired by her Lilac Point Siamese Tom but he had developed a tumor on his bladder and she had him put to sleep shortly after(?)  the kittens were born.
