The Cardassians are coming the Cardassians are coming. Who is it that we first see fighting the Cardassinians? She is a lowly ensign with a fisty temper, a rebel with a cause named Ro Laren. This star trek junior officer is featured in the second and third seasons of Star Trek The Next Generation. Not the usual romantic soap opera character she is used to explore smalller oppressed alien races vs. vicious oppressive alien races. This race conflict then becomes the core of the setting for the series Deep Space Nine and Star Trek's full exploration of religion. She is also used to explore rebelion and the Captian's forgivness in regards insubordination. |

Ro, Laren: a Bajoran who served in the Federation Starfleet. Born in 2340 and raised during the Cardassian occupation of her homeworld, Ro spent her childhood in Bajoran Resettlement camps. When she was seven years old, she was forced to watch as the Cardassians tortured her father to death. As a Starfleet ensign, Ro had numerous reprimands on her record, and she was court-martialled after a disastrous mission to planet Garon II in which she disobeyed orders and eight members of her USS Wellington away team were killed. Bajoran custom dictates that an individual's family name is given first, and the given name is last; thus Ro is her family name In 2368, on stardate 45494, Ro and Riker shared a brief romantic liaison when both suffered from memory loss while under the influence of a Satarran mind probe. Despite her people's spiritual nature, Laren was never sure about her faith in the bajoran Religion. |

I am not really a fan of the actress Michelle Forbes who plays the character Ensign Ro. I think I prefer Jamie Lee Curtis or Sandra Bulock for nineties actresses that are on top of the mainstream and still swimming. |
