A letter to Mr Lee
By: Richard Tracey
This is a copy of a letter I sent to Mr Lee on the 4th October.
On the 30th August you gave us this challenge...
8/30/98
ANOTHER CHALLENGE TO ATHEISTS, AGNOSTICS AND NONBELIEVERS
"I hereby challege any atheist to name any genine CHRISTIAN of old who believed that the earth was flat.
Please supply concrete proof that he was a genuine Christian and substantiate that he believed the earth
was flat."
"What you will realize when you endeavor to perform this impossible task is it was not genuine Christians
who believed this myth, but it was the liberal, atheistic so-called "scholars" and etc of the day who
originated and perpetuated that myth. But now that the same ilk of people look back into history and see
how terribly mistakened earlier atheists were, they try to blame those early myths on true Christians. A
hundred years from now if they ever come to realize that their present day speculations are also wrong,
they may blame them on present day Christians also."
--------------------------
After some research I found the following extracts...
Firstly Revelations 7:1
"And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree."
This implies that the earth has 4 corners?! And since he can see them all would suggest a flat earth.
Secondly Daniel 4:11
"The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth"
Yet again, Daniel believes that if a tree grows tall enough it will be seen all over the earth!?!
Thirdly Matthew 4:8
"Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor."
What kind of mountain allows someone to see around a sphere? Surely this must show belief in a flat earth to make such a claim!
Well, it looks as if I have performed this 'impossible task' for you. Do you care to dispute the very bible you claim is God's word? These are all christians I believe?
I have to admit I am REALLY looking forward to a reply on this.
Yours
Richard.
--Needless to say, he hasn't replied!--
What I do find amazing, and it is true of so many christians, is how much they sneer at the stupidity of various tribes and cultures that worshipped Sun gods, Moon gods etc. Because they know that they were mistaken back then. I wonder, when people manage to control their own destinies and not rely on mythology to teach them 'good behaviour.' Will they look back and think how stupid our generations were?
