Final Fantasy Tactics One thing to note first off is that the enemies level with you (at least on the random encounters), ie at level 10 you fight level 10 monsters, so don't be overly anxious to level up. On the other hand you also level up in your Jobs to get more skills, which you have to do. So the goal/theme is to level your jobs as fast as possible without raising too many normal levels in the process. This is done two ways, accepting tasks at bars for job experience and keep Job-points-up equiped as much as reasonably possible. My favorite job level up trick is to enter a random battle with job-points-up on the entire party, with one of the members being a Knight and one being a Monk. I procede to kill all but one of the enemies while the Knight speed and power breaks the final enemy until it's pathetic. Then I circle my party around the monk. Next, I have the group beat on each other while the monk uses chakra to heal back the damage done. When I get tired of leveling up I kill the weakened monster. Everyone needs to learn to be a Lancer by the end of chapter three. There is a particular battle that stumped me for days, until I made my entire party lancers and jumped every round. Wiegraf/Velius uses an area effect spell in a confined space, hurting almost your entire group every time he has a turn. By jumping your party is in the air most of the times he uses it, avoiding the damage. I made my main character master monk as early as possible, then learned Move +2 as a thief and Two Swords as a ninja. After that I switched him into a Knight and left him there for the rest of the game (with the exception of the Lancer battle), with Punch Art as a secondary skill, Hamudo as his counter, TwoSwords his special, and Move +2 his movement. The best part is when you use break skills, you get to break twice... once with each sword. I hired a soldier with 72 brave to be my other tank. I had him master Geomancy right off. Then with move +2 from being a thief, and Attack UP and Elemental from being a Geomancer, I turned him into a monk. Elemental Attacks do very little damage but have amazing range and sometimes make a negative status effect like Petrify, on those hard to reach monsters. I started with a female character with 71 faith and hired another that had 69 faith for casters. For both of them I emphasized a lot of chemist skills early on. I made them learn the variety of caster classes required to become a calculator then learned the powerful Damage Split counter. After learning Damage Split I made them both Summoners... since summoning magic is the best. For my fifth character I used a Geomancer/Lancer/Miscellaneous-Tank until I got the almighty Orlandu in chapter four. He has all the sword skills in the game, all with variety of ranges and effects making him the most deadly ally you'll ever have. Because of Orlandu, beating the game is very melodramatic. But luckily for a bit of challenge you can enter the Deep Dungeon for powerful items and the best summon in the game. |
