The most important parts of the story are the player characters. Without them, the campaign is only the SG imagining things. And if you have a poorly designed, shoddy character, you won't enjoy it that much anyway. So here are some suggestions for designing your character. You can throw them out the window if you like.
Be prepared to spend some time on this. The more prepared your character is, the more thought you've put into them, the better you'll be able to immerse yourself into them, and the better you'll enjoy the game.
