The Story:
Obadiah Archer's latent harbinger abilities were activated during a near death experience. His parents had tried to kill him by tying him up in the kitchen and setting the house on fire. After awakening, he ran away and traveled abroad. He eventually arrived at a temple in Ladakh where he was trained in martial arts and archery. When he finally left the temple and discovered that his parents had already been brought to justice, he began to wander the country looking for a purpose. When he arrived in Los Angeles, he met Armstrong. Armstrong claimed to be an Immortal, but Archer didn't buy it and eventually they parted ways. Archer then met up with the Sect, a group trying to hunt down and kill Armstrong, who they believed was the devil. Archer was supposed to take down Armstrong, but instead he sided with him. The Sect was about to attack them when Armstrong's brother Gilad, the Eternal Warrior, showed up and took them to the Lost Land to help in the battle to prevent Unity. It was in the Lost Land that Archer saw first hand that Armstrong's wild claims were in fact true. The two began to form their bizarre partnership and by the war's end were almost inseperable.

After Unity the two had many adventures (or misadventures) together. They had to deal with "threats" such as the Sect and a mummy. Archer also got to meet many new and interesting people who Armstrong had come to know during his long life. One was Armstrong's wife, Andromeda (and her pet dinosaur, Flo). He also met Armstrong's other brother Ivar, the Timewalker. After an under water adventure, Archer had another near death experience which resulted in him "loosening up." Well... at least for a little while.

The two eventually went to Ladakh, the place where Archer was trained. There was a Chaos Effect inflicting the world at the time, and Ivar was the cause of the danger. They remained at Ivar's side until many other heroes arrived at the temple to try and close the time arc that was the cause of the Effect. With a little help from the future, Solar was able to create another portal to counteract the Effect. Before the portal was closed, however, one of Master Darque's minions (who was in the guise of Shadowman) grabbed Archer, Armstrong, and Geoff the Geomancer and carried them through it. The portal deposited them in the Lost Land at the time of its creation.

After the series:
How Archer & Armstrong (and Geoff) return from the Lost Land was never revealed. They make their return by the year 1999, however, because they are present at the ceremony held in honor of the fallen hero Jack Boniface, the Shadowman.

Archer and the Harbinger Flamingo are married in the year 2005. Shortly after that he founds the Archies who, by the year 2020, become a symbol of peace and order in a turbulan world torn by warring corporations. It is in this year that Armstrong is captured by Toyo Harada who is attempting to unlock his secret of eternal life. Archer, who is informed of the situation by the Geomancer Geoff, rescues his former partner, but loses his life in the process. A grieving Armstrong blames his brother Gilad for the death because he didn't arrive in time to help the fifty year old Archer free him. Armstrong vanished from the face of the Earth that day never to be seen again. That is, of course, until the year 4020.

When the Immortal Enemy shows up in the future, the first thing he does is kill the geomancer Rokland Tate. He hoped this whould bring Gilad out of hiding. With Magnus stuck in the twentieth century, the only one he was worried about getting in thw way was Magnus's son Torque who had the harbinger strength and toughness of his father. The Enemy, while in the body of a government official, sends Torque and Slagger off on a wild goose chase to locate Armstrong so that he could become the next Geomancer. The search brings them to Neptune's moon Triton. There they meet an old man named Bozzi. It turns out that Bozzi is really Armstrong with a bad case of amnesia. He slowly aged to his old appearance while he was away from the Earth (apparently the Immortal Brothers' powers are somehow linked to the Earth). His memory returned to him while watching Torque, who was trained in a temple based on Archer's teachings, fight some guy in a "court room." He had flashbacks of Archer fighting and soon the rest of his memory returned. They returned to Earth and defeated the Immortal Enemy who was in the body of a newly returned Magnus. Now that Armstrong had returned to the Earth, he began to look young again. He had also finally accepted the fate that nature had always intended for him. He was now the Eternal Geomancer!

The Same As It Never Was:
Both Archer and Armstrong appeared in the series Eternal Warriors. Aram "Armstrong" looks exactally the same except that he is no longer a drunken slob. He actually wears rich clothing. He's a part of the Forever Family and is the youngest of the three Immortal Brothers known as the Eternal Warriors. He also has some form of the Geomancer abilities that the "other" Armstrong didn't gain until the year 4020. Archer, on the other hand, is completely different. He's a common street thief named LeMont Quirrel who became an apprentice of the Immortal Brothers after attempting to rob Armstrong's brother Gilad. He was nicknamed Archer because he reminded Gilad and Aram of an old partner that used to travel with Armstrong named Archer. Archer and Armstrong eventually bonded during a battle with Aram's brother Gilad, the Warmaster. Before this series ended when Acclaim decided to go on hiatus, Archer was apparently killed by Mog, the father of the three Immortal Brothers. While his death was probably intended to be a trick or something along those lines, the series ended before Archer could return. Thus, we must assume that he truly is dead.
