The Serene Countryside.

Few days ago, I had the opportunity to visit the countyside. Actually, I was on the way to Hollister (a bit south of Dunneville (look up)). Along the 2 hour ride from Milpitas to Hollister, I took quite a number of the countryside. Its incredible. I never seen so much flat land land before all at once. Its so flat, that if you look at the horizon, you can actually see the curvage of the earth. Some of the pictures are blurry due to the fact they are all taken in a car moving 120 kph with the windows up. I just have to snap and snap. For those who enjoy the countryside, enjoy!

Hot air balloon. It must be nice to be on one. To have a bird's eye view of the countryside is simply amazing. I suppose you can rent one or atleast have a paid ride. The dead-looking trees you see is from an apple orchard. Its winter.

A private airfield. You can come to have pilot's lessons here. They have mostly 1-2 man planes but I was a WWII Mustang in the air that day. (Its the one that was shown in Pearl Harbor).

A strawberry farm. Its winter so I was not able to see anything except rows and rows of covered mounds.

Is this flat or what? Its all flat land. Mostly used for agriculture. They must have leveled the area for farms. Either that, or this area is some lowland.

Apple orchard. Trimmed and cut waiting for spring. I wonder what sights I missed by not being here in summer or spring.

One thing I found very interesting is how rich their soil is. Its all black and porous soil. This farm must be one of the garlic farm around here. Gilroy (where this pic is taken) is the Garlic Capital of the USA). Even the air has a distinct garlic smell to it.

The wineyards. What that looks like clothes hangers here are actually support for grape plants. Lots and lots of grape plants. Sigh, its still winter.

Grazing grounds for cattle. Its huge huge grazing ground. I wonder how much land do the farmers here actually have. Imagine our Malaysian kampung having so much land.

Mountains in the distant, houses in the foreground. Scenic? Must be a very nice place to retire. Easy and casual life. Wow...

This is even better. Hills in the background, lake in the foreground. When I saw this, I had to rush and get my camera out. The sight just took me away. I never thought I will ever see those countryside scenes in the movie LIVE! Simply breath taking.

For those who likes hilly homes, this one is just for you. Every morning, you can go hiking right in your backyard. If you get lucky, maybe you can build an observation tower right on top!
